Who can play for Donegal Youth Soccer?
Children of any skill level, ages 2-19, are welcome to play with DYS. We serve Donegal School District, which encompasses, Mount Joy, Maytown, and Marietta. However, players from other school districts and areas are welcome!
How do I register my child to play for DYS?
Registrations are held in January for the spring season, and in June for the fall season. We prefer that players register on this website, but we will also be hosting site-based registration events (see our Calendar for dates and times).
Late registrations are accepted at the discretion of our Coordinators based on the number of slots still available.
What does my registration fee go towards?
- T-shirts for 'And Me', U-6, and U-8
- Coach training
- Referee fees
- Field fees and maintenance
- Website fees
- Insurance fees
- Equipment such as balls, nets, paint, medical supplies, etc.
- Other costs that we incur throughout the seasons
What equipment does my child need?
- Soccer ball (U6&U8: #3; U10-U12: #4; U13 & above: #5)
- Soccer cleats or sneakers
- Shin guards
- Long socks that will completely cover the shin guards
- Athletic shorts or pants
- Soccer ball (size will depend on the age level your child is playing)
- Traveland Rec players will need to purchase a uniform.
What is the difference between rec and travel?
- Players must try out for travel teams.
- Recreational soccer is less demanding on the players and parents. It is less competitive, and players are guaranteed 50% playing time in games.
- Travel players are expected to attend all practices and perform at their best ability. While there are guidelines for playing time, it is at the discretion of the coach, and may be based on attendance, attitude, ability, and effort.
- The level of play is higher. Travel is a great opportunity for the player who is not being challenged in the recreational league.
Can my child play up or down an age level?
Players are encouraged to participate at their appropriate age level. However, some players are able to play at a higher level. Please refer to our Playing Out of Age Group Policy.
What if I have a question or a concern?
Parents are encouraged to be involved in their child's participation in DYS by attending practices, games, and talking to the coach regarding any questions or concerns. Parents may also contact a board member regarding specific questions or concerns. Phone numbers and email addresses are listed on the Contact Us page of this website.
Parents are also encouraged to take a more active role in the club by attending our monthly board meetings (see our Calendar for dates and times), as well as volunteering your time to help our club (see our Volunteer page for information on where we need help).
Is financial assistance available for families?
We have multiple child discounts as well as fundraising options to try to keep costs as low as possible for parents. If you have a financial situation that would make it difficult to register your child(ren) for DYS, you may submit a request for aid to our Registrar. These requests are handled on a case by case basis.
